Background Information:

Luminous Arc:

The story begins with a video type cutscene featuring the recently promoted 14-year old Grand Cardinal Johannes along with Cardinal Kingston and some monks. After that the next scene is of Alph, Theo, Cecille and Leon. The team are supposed to be training but Leon's slacking off and keeps trying to hit on Cecille. Heath the ArchKnight and leader of the Garden Children returns and says that the Garden Children are finally commissioned to fight Witches and monsters. Miraculously there happen to be some nearby and citizens crying and running around in terror.

The next big development is the arrival of Lucia, a supposed maid who enjoys sweeping but hates actual cleaning. Later that night Alph is asleep and hears Lucia's voice, they have a conversation then (while asleep) and Lucia says Alph's a Rym and he goes "What the hell?" and wakes up. Earlier Lucia said she was sleeping in the forest so he gets up and goes there. While talking with Lucia, they are attacked by monsters because Alph forgot to cleanse the monster blood from his sword, as it attracts more monsters. Lucia uses light magic, causing Alph finds out she's a witch but promises not to tell anyone because she reasons him with being the one who saved his life.

Luminous Arc 2:

In an age when magic supports everyday life and civilization itself, peace is maintained by the queen's knights and the Rev Magic Association. Sixteen years before the game's story begins, monsters called Beast Fiends started to appear, destroying everything in their way. Mattias, leader of the Magic Association, used the evil Demon Blade to try to seal the source of the fiends, but was sealed away himself by the elemental witches. New Beast Fiends have been appearing, and the Kingdom of Carnava overextends its forces trying to protect the entire kingdom. Meanwhile, Fatima, a powerful witch of the Association with control of the rare Shadow Frost Magic, goes rogue and starts a conflict with the Association, causing more trouble for the Kingdom.

Trying to solve the crisis, the Kingdom starts a clandestine research project to produce an easier way to use magic. The story starts at the point when the Kingdom had just successfully completed this tool, the "Runic Engine". Roland, a knight in training, is accidentally imbued with this new power, and fights the Beast Fiends, Master Mattias and the Shadow Frost Witch. In the course of the game, he discovers that the Rev Magic Association had covered up Mattias' turn towards evil. However, they did not realize that Mattias did this to try and save the world, rather than destroy it. He later discovers that Bharva, king of the Fiends, was manipulating events, and joins with Fatima to prevent the Mage Queen Elicia, creator of the Fiends, from overrunning the world with them.

There is also a third game, Luminous Arc 3, but it only came out in Japan.

Standing in the Battledome:

The biggest advantage in the Luminous Arc verse is its destructive capacity, the first game features building to town level attacks and even a planetary threat, in the form of a "God" who its purpose is to consume everything on the planet.

The second game, while having weaker destructive capacity, has some broken powers, like Rega, a sword that can soulfuck people and other feats.

Unfortunately, the two games lack notable speed feats.
