Background Information:

Magic: The Gathering is a collectible card game created by mathematics professor Richard Garfield and introduced in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast. The series, like most modern fantasy series, draws heavily from the motifs of traditional fantasy role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, and the phrase Yu-Gi-Oh for adults have been known to show up for a while (even though Magic came out three years before Yu-Gi-Oh did). The series deals with powerful wizards called "planeswalkers" who are given the power to travel across the planes of existence and have a near-monopoly on travel between and knowledge of the various universes, though other powers capable of opening portals between worlds do exist. Some planeswalkers are considered to be gods by the inhabitants of the planes. On the other hand it is uncertain if some of the known gods are really planeswalkers like Gaea who is considered to be extremely powerful, being an immortal, non-corporeal spirit.

Standing in the Battledome:

In the OBD, Magic is rarely used, though the series is very powerful due to their many universal/multiversal threats and other crazy broken spells.
