Background Information

Ranma 1/2 is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi, the creator of InuYasha. Unlike Inuyasha, however, Ranma 1/2 is actually good. The series focuses on Ranma Saotome, a teenage martial artist who fell into a cursed spring and changes into a girl every time he is splashed with cold water (hot water changes him back). His father also had a tendency of promising to marry him to lots of different girls, who all vie for his attention (making it also part of the harem genre).

There is also a non-canon anime.

Standing in the Battledome

Ranma 1/2 is more of a comedy manga than a serious story, but there are several impressive feats, such as striking hundreds of times in a fraction of a second (in the early part of the manga), and mountainbusting. Despite this plethora of feats, the series has had an issue with no one seemingly being capable of agreeing on how powerful it really is. Opinions have ranged from being on par with Enies Lobby Luffy at its worst to being on par with the likes of Yu Yu Hakusho high tiers.

Seems recent calculations have it settling down around at least hypersonic+ to double digits, potentially triple digit mach with some small island level top tiers.

The series is also known for its gratuitous fanservice.
