Background Information

Overlord is a Japanese light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. It began serialization online in 2010, before being acquired by Enterbrain. Twelve volumes have been published since July 30, 2012.

The series begins with Satoru Suzuki, who was once just an average Japanese salaryman, that spent most of his money and time in a game called Yggdrasil, a DMMO-RPG (Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Basically, a game where you connect your brain to a machine and can play it with the body of your avatar as if the game was real.

In this game, Suzuki's character was Momonga, an undead magic caster skeleton. He was a level 100 player, from one of the most powerful guilds in the world. He didn't have any friends in real life, so, he treated the other players of his guild as if they were his family.

After several years playing, his friends slowly stopped logging in, and the game was going to end. Momonga was the last person in his guild still active.
But, somehow, when the game was about to be shut down, his guild was transported to a fantasy world that was apparently real. All the NPCs created personalities and started treating Momonga as their god.

Taking on the name of Ainz Ooal Gown, a message to any other players, Momonga begins exploring the world in an attempt to figure out what has happened while searching for anyone, or anything, that could help him solve this mystery.

The author of this series is a huge fan of RPG games like Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft, which is evident in this series.

To sum it all, it is basically the badass series that Sword Art Online wishes it could be.

Standing in the Battledome

A relatively new series, it has not revealed too much power. With fodders ranging from building to city block level and top tiers like Ainz and Shalltear reaching small city level.

Speedwise, this series is lacking. Top tier characters are in the supersonic range outside of non-canon appearances.

Hax is where this verse exceeds many others. The notable hax includes reality warping, Death Manipulation, false black hole creation, matter manipulation, intangibility, resurrection, existence erasure, time manipulation, space manipulation, soul manipulation, mind manipulation, power nullification and tons of others.

On top of that, the Ainz has tons of resistances due to this race's traits.

When making a match against this verse, it is worth to keep in mind that many of them can easily ignore conventional durability and has tons of instant kill spells.

All in all, this verse shouldn't be taken lightly.
