- Engetsu (Scathing Moon):
- Shikai (Initial Release): Burn: The second form (or first "upgraded" form) available to a Zanpakutō. To activate it, the Shinigami needs to learn the name of their Zanpakutō. The Shikai form of Engetsu is a large Itachi with a standard hilt. Its ability lies in manifesting flames from the blade, which can apparently be powered using his blood as a catalyst. Isshin can also use his son's trademark technique without releasing his Zanpakuto.
- Getsuga Tenshō (Moon Fang Heaven-Piercer): Fires a blast of reiatsu that can take multiple forms, strong enough to cut a large swath through the ground several meters wide and dozens of meters long. His variation of Getsuga Tensho was substantially more powerful than Ichigo's before the timeskip.
- Bankai (Final Release): Not yet revealed however was stated by Aizen to strain Isshin's body to the extent where it would be unusable where he to be wounded.
- Final Getsuga Tensho: Like Ichigo, Isshin appears to have a variation of his Zanpakuto's final technique.
- Zanjutsu (Art of the Sword): The fighting style for the Zanpakutō, (i.e. sword fighting) and is one of the four basic fighting styles of the Shinigami.
- Hakuda (Hand-to-Hand Combat): A close-combat martial art of fighting in which one is unarmed and uses only one's body, and is one of the four basic fighting styles of the Shinigami.
