The most frequently occurring theory of classical elements, held by the Hindu, Japanese, and Greek systems of thought, is that there are five elements, namely Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and a fifth element known variously as space. The main types of elemental manipulation used in fiction are; Fire, Water, Air/Wind and Earth. Other popular types of elemental manipulation in fiction are; Lightning/Electricity, Ice, Metal, Light, Dark, and Weather. Some series, such as Avatar: The Last Airbender and Bionicle, have elemental themes and powers as a focal part of the storyline.

Water
Kitara shifting the water around her |
Water manipulation (Hydrokinesis) is the power to mentally control liquid elements. Some users may only be able to control H2O or pure water. Almost all forms of water manipulation involve moving and shaping a body of water to the user's desire. By simply levitating a large mass of water, they can move water anywhere they wish, even parting it under the surface of a lake or sea, allowing them to walk along the bottom of a basin without the need to swim. These large bodies can also be used as weapons, either by shaping them into gigantic whips, swung repeatedly at a target as a snake-like body, formed momentarily into a razor-sharp edges that can cut through even metal, or simply dropped onto an opponent to smother them or put out a fire. On the sea or ocean, one can be used to create giant maelstroms, and profound experts of hydrokinetic subtlety can even use the water in their opponent's bodies. It is also very convenient for the slow wearing down of highly resistant obstacles.
Ice Manipulation is typically associated with Water Manipulation. but like everything in the OBD, requires feats.
Typical associated drawbacks include the necessity of source material for higher power levels, the hydration level of the user and the purity of the water in use by the character, or the reaction with sound waves or chemicals like Potassium and Francium.
Application:
- Manipulate tides
- Control ocean currents
- Create tsunamis or tidal waves
- Use water as a weapon
- Take the moisture from your enemy and make them dehydrate
- Some users can heal themselves or others with their water abilities

The user can create, control and manipulate fire, flame and heat at will and mold it into a variety of shapes and forms. They are able to excite atoms with enough energy to ignite, thus generating flames without being harmed. Experienced pyrokinetics may learn how to use heat rather than combustion, and perform things such as freezing objects by withdrawing heat, or manipulate magnetism, and electro-conductivity causing machines to harmlessly shut down, or for batteries to last longer. Some can also create other forms of plasma.
Typically associated drawbacks are the lack of immunity to fire, and necessity for fuel and oxygen.
Applications:
