Background Information:
A RPG series created by the Atlus Game Company. Shin Megami Tensei has a variety of spin offs and installments to completely overshadow the Final Fantasy series.
The single difference is, they're all good and they're all so frustratingly difficult that it's believed Atlus made the series just to drink from the supporters tears of rage and sadness.
A major plot point for every single game in the franchise is mythology and the power of choice. Choice of allies, plot progression and powers.
One could say that in SMT there are three ways you can play the main games. Be Lawful, Be Chaotic or Be Neutral. Whichever you choose, prepare for excellence.
Standing in the Battledome:
The series is one of the closest alongside the XenoSeries for being the strongest Video Game verse.
The verse has many powerful characters and beings that are easily multiverse level+ like Kagutsuchi who is the Great Father's avatar, YHVH himself who governs the whole of creation and existence itself and is a nigh-omnipotent being, Lucifer, Mem Aleph, the legendary Demi-Fiend, Aleph, and Tadano, and many other high level beings as well.
The Amala Universe is a multiverse made up of countless worlds that constantly are created, destroyed, and reincarnated again in an infinite cycle of rebirth; billions of universes outside of that are constantly destroyed by YHVH, and many of the side games such as the Persona and Devil Survivor or Digital Devil Saga series(s) take place in semi-connected universes in alternate realities outside of the Amala Universe.
Part of the ridiculous firepower and brokenness that Shin Megami Tensei accounts for is its very detailed focus on connecting the demonic counterparts of real world mythologies and religious or supernatural beings with their feats from their lores such as Odin's Grungir spear never missing its target, Gae Bolg the infamous spear of a certain Irish fame that always hits the heart, and even the mythos of Lovecraft being included into the mix like Cthulhu and Shoggoth.
