- Flame Clones: Johnny can create temporary clones out of flame to distract or attack his opponents. Said clones are weaker than him but can use fire-based attacks and are intangible

- Fire Manipulation: In addition to creating a fire aura around himself, he can manipulate any fires in the area, causing them to grow larger or smaller. He can also project flame as jets, beams, fireballs, etc. and form it into complex forms like cages, ropes, whips, swords, discs, and other shapes, as well as control their speed and direction

- Sunburst: Can release a flare of brilliant light that can temporarily blind opponents

- Nova Flames: By burning to his maximum natural limit, he can create a massively intense form of fire which is comparable to stellar temperatures and will completely overwhelm any normal fire. There are generally three separate levels of this:

- Near - Nova flames: Temperature is at least as hot as the sun's core, can potentially wipe out the surface of a planet.

- Nova flames: Temperature is hotter than the core of the sun, can potentially destroy a small planet or moon

- Supernova: Temperature equals that of an exploding star, can potentially destroy a planet

- Heat Drain: By draining all of the ambient heat in the local environment, he can freeze everything around him, possibly to Absolute Zero, although this is not confirmed

- Defensive aura: His standard aura of flame can melt bullets and other projectiles before they hit him, rendering him effectively immune to most gun/shell type attacks. It can also increase his natural durability, allowing him to survive physical attacks from superhuman characters, and even more exotic things like antimatter

- Flame shield: Creates a type of forcefield made of fire that can protect him and others against physical attacks and things like poisonous gas. Alternatively, he can use it to entrap his opponents. These shields can last for days before burning out.

- Buzzsaw fireballs: Creates fireballs with sharp edges that can cut through solid objects (don't ask how it works)

- Heat Vortex: By manipulating the temperature of the air around him, he can create whirlwinds, waterspouts, and tornadoes. They can be as (or more) destructive than their natural counterparts, but can also be precisely controlled so as to safely pick up and carry people and objects without harming them.

- Spontaneous Combustion: Can cause people and objects to burst into flame simply by looking at them (limited to short range)

- Smokescreen: By generating a large amount of smoke, he can confuse and disorient opponents, or mask his and his allies' locations

- Steam Breath: Can breathe superheated steam

- Ultraviolet Blast: Fires concentrated heat waves that can simulate the effect of exposure to direct, dry desert sunlight for weeks on end in seconds. Only effective at close range.

- Oxygen Burn: Burns up all of the oxygen in a local area (most effective in enclosed spaces), causing opponents to suffocate. Can backfire if he doesn't find more oxygen quickly, though.

- Hypnosis: By creating disorienting, swirling patterns of fire, combined with hypnotic techniques, he can hypnotize foes, although he is not as adept at it as Reed


- Annihilation Wave: Current leader of the Negative Zone, has a vast army or giant relentless space insects at his disposal.
