Background:
Are You Afraid of the Dark? Was a horror series that had two runs on Nickelodeon in the United States and YTV in Canada from 1990 to 2000. If you were a 90's kid, you almost certainly remember Are You Afraid of the Dark?, but I'll jog your memory further by reminding you what the format was. A group of teenagers called The Midnight Society gathers around a campfire every week to hear a scary story from one of their members. The themes, and endings, ranged from ghosts and ghouls to aliens and other weird sci-fi related stuff. One episode had a guy gradually transforming into a snake from using a cursed hockey stick. Another saw an unfortunate idiot disobey an order, finding himself permanently trapped in a pinball game as a result.
The wide variety of stories was a strength of the series. It was never monotonic.
In addition to the main TV series, there was also a board game, a series of books, and a PC game (but you'll need a DOS emulator to play it). All of them are probably canon.
Standing in the Battledome:
Are You Afraid of the Dark? is, surprisingly, very powerful. Almost all the feats take place in the stories, of course, but those feats (which make the series interesting from an OBD standpoint to start with) are very strong. Intangibility is common in the series, given all the ghost stories, of course, but Are You Afraid of the Dark? also boasts many shapeshifting and immortal creatures, extraterrestrial civilizations capable of FTL travel, some instances of technopathy, mind control, time manipulation, reality warping devices, and other assorted hax. Perhaps the most notable feat came in The Tale of the Super Specs, where a powerful sorceress from a parrallel universe sealed the main one into a crystal ball.
