Durability: Unknown, likely at least city block level+ (it is far more durable than a normal ship, as it is made of Adam Wood, and are able to withstand boiling water that roasted a giant sea monster within moments for extended periods of time without negative effects)
Material: Adam Wood (the strongest and highest quality type of wood found in the world of One Piece)
Performance: Around 12 knots (equivalent to about 13 mph) normally, can achieve short bursts of speed far above that with Coup de Burst
Weaknesses: It can't sail on land (though it has to compliment vehicles in its Soldier Dock System which are effective on land)

Notable features: It can also be coated with special resin from the Yarukiman Mangroves, enabling the ship to sail underwater
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Gaon Cannon: A powerful cannon hidden within the lion's mouth in the prow of the ship, the cannon itself fires a blast of air that resembles an energy beam. The cannon is aimed in a room within the prow itself.
- Coup de Burst (Burst Blow): Basically, the Sunny uses three barrels of Cola to fire a giant cannon downward and rocket the ship into the air thus making a great escape or as Franky calls it, a "Water Escape". Thanks to the use of Adam Wood in its construction, the Sunny can withstand the force of this maneuver without incurring damage, whereas any other ship would suffer from its use.
- Chicken Voyage: A maneuver the Sunny can do in order to escape attacks immediately. By activating a contraption found at the helm, the Thousand Sunny can rotate its mane like a propeller to propel the entire ship backward.
- Soldier Dock System: a special system built within the ship represented externally by the two giant plates marked with giant numbers on either side of the ship. It is a turn table of compartments of sorts that each contains a special device or vehicle that the Straw Hats can use. It is named like this because the vehicles stored within are, as Franky calls them, the soldiers of the Thousand Sunny
- Channel Zero: Two compartments containing the paddle wheels to change the ship into Paddle-Wheel Sunny. It is powered by Cola. The wheels can rotate in reverse and are not connected to one another. With these wheels, the Thousand Sunny's heading can be changed easily.
- Channel One: Contains Shiro Mokuba I (White Rocking Horse I), a Waver that Nami obtained in the Skypiea Saga, that was later modified by Franky to be used as part of the Thousand Sunny's Soldier Dock system. When improved by Franky, the waver included a horse figurehead and a new wheel affixed on the handlebars, making it capable of covering any terrain other than water, and doubles the speed of it combined with the jet dial.
- Channel Two: Contains Mini Merry II, a small boat with a steam engine and paddle wheels based on the Going Merry that was made by Franky. Its main design purpose is for shoppingand it can hold up to four people.
- Channel Three: Contains Shark Submerge III, is a deep-sea exploring submarine shaped like a shark that can carry three people. It was built by Franky in order to aid the Straw Hat Pirates when they ever come across a situation that requires going underwater. The passengers keep in contact with the ship above through a Den Den Mushi. The Shark Submerge III has a diving limit of 5,000 meters. Going below any further than that would cause the sub to crack due to the surrounding water pressure.
- Channel Four: Contains Kurosai FR-U IV (Black Rhino FR-U IV), one of the additions to the Thousand Sunny's Soldier Dock Franky added after the timeskip. It is a giant black motorcycle made of Wapometal with three wheels and the armored head of a rhino. It can "dock" with the Brachio Tank V to form the Iron Pirate Franky Shogun.
- Channel Five: Contains Brachio Tank V, one of the additions to the Thousand Sunny's Soldier Dock Franky added after the timeskip. Its a tank made of Wapometal and the cockpit can expand by pulling a lever. The mouth of the gun is shaped like a brachiosaurusand it can be raised and lowered. The main body of the tank is somewhat round shapedand it uses tank tread belts to move, it can "dock" with the Kurosai FR-U IV to form the Iron Pirate Franky Shogun.
