Background Information

Vinland Saga is a manga written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura.

Thorfinn is son to one of the Viking's greatest warriors, but when his father is killed in battle by the mercenary leader Askeladd, he swears his intent to have revenge. Thorfinn joins Askeladd's group in order to challenge him to a duel, and ends up caught in the middle of a war for the crown of England.

Simply put, it's an awesome seinen manga and one of the very best in the entire medium. Read it. If you have already then read it again.

Standing in the Battledome

From a battle point of view Vinland is a relatively weak verse, but that desn't matter because the verse is full of some of the most badass characters to ever grace a manga.

Still, even its high tiers are only about low to mid Kenshin level or Golden age Berserk without all the demons.

As a whole they're comparable to Blade of the Immortal but lose out to them due to BoTI having more top tiers.
