Without Maten, Genjyo has the ability to: chi sense, nen reinforcement, see spirits, resistance to a level of poison, can repel a level of mind manipulation, resistant to a level of heat/fire, extremely adaptive
Weaknesses: Despite his level of power, he is still relatively human. Chain smoking has affected his endurance. Has a habit of not using his best ability until other methods fail
Destructive Capacity: Potentially star level w/o sutra. At least universe level w/sutra (the original Tenchi Kaigen was responsbile for creating at least 8 universes. Chant/concentration is key to producing this level)
Range: Extended range with firearm, upward to at least thousand of kilometers via powerscaling with sutra
Speed: At least hypersonic (can keep up with L. Goku and combat Kougaiji evenly. Can blitz Nataku's summons that are capable of reacting to Gojyo's chain blade)
Durability: At least galaxy level, likely higher (tanked a couple of unchanted Maten blast, mostly no-sold Kougaiji's Engokuki, and endured Nataku's one symbol blast and attacks)
Lifting Strength: Superhuman (blocked a kick from Ririn and a hellfire-enhanced punch from Kougaiji, the latter happening after Kou showed to be physically stronger than Desert arc Goku)
Striking Strength: Superhuman (has physically hurt the likes of Goku, Gojyo and Kougaiji)
Stamina: Very high. Despite his waning stamina to chain smoking, he still manages to impress with stuff like keeping pace with Kougaiji and being able to stay active even after being past his limit. He's currently enduring hits from Nataku well enough

Intelligence: Fairly wise for a young man. Extremely charismatic and an able leader, that even ruffians like Gojyo have no issue following. A capable fighter in martial arts (as a child he was able to best adults) and generally sound on the battlefield. What he tends to lack is oversight, as he does not think to end the battle with high profile opponents quickly, resorting to his old tricks first

- Makai Tenjyo: "The big attack Genjo Sanzo unleashes with the Maten Sutra. As the name implies, it has the power to “warn [戒 kai] against evil [魔 ma] and purify [浄 jyo] unto heaven [天 ten]”. It’s a skill that instantaneously sends to heaven anything in its surroundings that falls under “evil”, but is ineffective against normal humans (TN: only the ability to kill instantly, it can still be used on humans otherwise). The Heart Sutra intoned before unleashing the attack (the “on mani hatsu mei un” spell that commands activation) is to unify the user’s spirit; it is possible to unleash the attack without the intonation (Sanzo even used it underwater), but the power may markedly decrease according to the difference in concentration"
