Intelligence: Kaworu/Tabris is perhaps the most intelligent of the Angels encountered in the series, due to having the combination of an Angel's soul and a human mind. Philosophical and thoughtful, Kaworu/Tabris recognises the innate potential of the human race where his siblings did not (or chose not to) and goes to rather extreme measures to motivate Shinji Ikari to make the right decisions to preserve humanity, including betraying his trust by hiding his identity as the 17th Angel in order to fuel his desire for vengeance and self-sacrifice in order to demonstrate to Shinji the necessity of his role as a guardian of the human role. An alternative perspective on Kaworu/Tabris could see him as supportive of Angelic actions all along, and befriending then later betraying and being killed by Shinji as the final measure to completely destroy the pilot's psyche and doom humanity to the Human Instrumentality Project, which would cast him as highly manipulative and deceptive.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- AT Field (Absolute Terror Field): A staple ability for all Angels in the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. A typically invisible projection of energy (when made visible, it is usually hexagonal in shape, though it varies on an individual basis) that enables the user to defy conventional physics. Can be used as both an offensive and a defensive tool, though its most common usage is as a potent forcefield. Kaworu/Tabris' "AT Field" is particularly effective due to its phenomonal strength, being capable of deflecting the concepts of light, electromagnetism and sub-atomic particles across a couple kilometer radius. Kaworu/Tabris also uses his "AT Field" to freely levitate in the air.
- Auto-Synchronization: Due to his unique nature as the human host of Adam's soul (and possibly cloned from its very flesh), Kaworu/Tabris is capable of possessing any entity that are derived directly from Adam's body, as they are effectively a portion of Kaworu/Tabris himself. This consists of all Evangelion Units except Eva-01, who was grown out of Lilith. It is unknown if Kaworu/Tabris would be similarly capable of manipulating his own siblings, the other Angels. There seems to be a requirement that the entity's soul must be in some way incapacitated or demotivated for Kaworu/Tabris to govern control: this is likely due to the soul(s) being a foreign presence that did not originate from Adam itself, and therefore outside of Kaworu/Tabris' own authority.
