Some of the major characters of Okami

Background Information

Okami is an action-adventure game series by Capcom, developed by Clover Studio (Viewtiful Joe, God Hand) and directed by Hideki Kamiya (Devil May Cry, Bayonetta) revolving around Japanese folklore. Okami originally came out on PS2 in 2006 and was considered the console's swan song by many, later receiving a Wii version and a PS3 version, as well as a sequel called Okamiden. Amaterasu and Issun also appeared in crossovers such as Marvel VS Capcom 3, as Capcom owns the rights to the franchise.

Okami:

There was a small village called Kamiki Village, where everyone from the villagers to the animals, lived in peace and happiness. But then one day, the legendary monster Orochi came back to life and put an evil curse on the entire area. Everything that had a bit of life disappeared from the face of the earth and in their place was left a dreadful, barren wasteland.

Orochi's horrid curse spread all across the land, turning it into a veritable hell on earth, infested with countless monsters roaming the earth. But there was one hope. The majestic, wolf-embodied sun god Amaterasu.

One-hundred years ago, Amaterasu used the godly power of the Celestial Brush to face Orochi. But their battle consumed them both, causing them to disappear from the world, with Amaterasu losing the thirteen Celestial Brush powers in the process.

Now in the present, Amaterasu stumbles upon a mysterious fairy sprite named Issun, and together they set out on an adventure, as Amaterasu aims to regain the 13 powers of the Celestial brush and defeat Orochi once and for all.

Okamiden:

Much of Okamiden ' s story centers around the children of previous characters from Okami and their adventures and the relationships that form through the game's story, according to producer Motohide Eshiro.

"The basic story behind this game is about relationships between children and their adventures. How they grow and experience things. And how Chibiterasu interacts with other characters, for example, Kuni, the son of Susano. First, there is a father-son relationship with Kuni and Susano. Then when Kuni meets Chibi the relationship between them. Then Chibiterasu meets and forms bonds with other characters in the game. It’s about meeting people, learning, and growing relationships with them. By the time you’re done playing the game you’ll feel as if you know these characters."
-Motohide Eshiro

The storyline takes place nine months after the ending of Okami. Although Amaterasu destroyed Yami and all the demons in Nippon, they mysteriously return and a curse begins to cover the lands. Chibiterasu appears, in Yakushi Village, shortly after the reappearance of the evil and Issun pairs him up with his first partner, Kuni to try and figure out the source of the returning evil.

Over the course of the game, Chibiterasu pairs up with many partners, each having their own unique abilities and personalities, to try and restore peace to the world. Together they go on many adventures including traversing through a flooded Agata Forest, escaping from Demons in Demon Market, flying to Thundercloud and even going back in time. However, there are lots of new enemies trying to hamper their journey and stop them from reaching, Akuro, the perpetrator of all the destruction.

Chibiterasu is the son of Amaterasu however he is a "young form of existence" and has not yet reached his full potential and although he retains some of Amaterasu's abilities he does not have the same power as her. This is reflected in his Weapons and Brush Techniques. Chibiterasu is armed, initially, with a smaller version of Amaterasu's Reflector Divine Retribution and has the power to control the Sunrise, like Amaterasu. However, he can also obtain an upgradable Glaive and Rosary. Chibiterasu learns most of the Brush Techniques his mother learned and some new ones.

TL;DR, if you're too damn lazy to read all of the above, just watch this instead. :bookerskully

Standing in the Battledome

Okami is one of Capcom's most powerful verses, being above Asura's Wrath but below Darkstalkers.

The verse's firepower ranges from least star to galaxy level+ for mid-to-high tiers while top tiers are multi-galaxy to universe level+.

Speedwise, Okami is easily in the MFTL+ range thanks to Amaterasu's Celestial Brush.

Okami also has an array of hax including time manipulation, sealing, soul manipulation, immortality, resurrection, and intangibility.

As one can already guess, it's EASILY above the likes of the HST, Toriko, and The Legend of Zelda. It can also easily challenge Dragon Ball.

Okami can easily shred any unprepared opposition; large amounts of firepower and hax are needed in order to effectively combat this setting.
