Vagabond Manga
Awesome manga ahoy!

Background Information

Growing up in the late 15th century Sengoku era Japan, Shinmen Takezo is shunned by the local villagers as a devil child due to his wild and violent nature. Running away from home with a fellow boy at age 17, Takezo joins the Toyotomi army to fight the Tokugawa clan at the battle of Sekigahara. However, the Tokugawa win a crushing victory, leading to nearly three hundred years of Shogunate rule. Takezo and his friend manage to survive the battle, and afterwards swear to do great things with their lives. But after their paths separate, Takezo becomes a wanted criminal, and must change his name and his nature in order to escape an ignoble death.

The Manga, written by Takehiko Inoue, is basically a fictionalized account of the life of Miyamoto "The Sword Saint" Musashi, and his rival Sasaki Kojirō . Both are extremely skilled swordsmen in their own right, Musashi has beaten some of the greatest swordsmen of the Era. Musashi considers Kojiro better than him in some regards. They both have a deep understanding of each other even though Kojiro is deaf.

The story follows their adventures across Japan. Musashi seeks to understand the meaning of "Invincible under the Sun." Will he ever find out what it truly means?

Standing in the Battledome

This verse is pretty weak on a grand scale of things. Most of it's fighters are peak human+ to low end superhuman.

There was once a time when Vagabond was considered on par with or even above Blade of the Immortal.

But after careful reevaluation of Blade of the Immortal's feats, it's now considered to be stronger than Vagabond.
