Character Shields

Character Shields are a literary device often used in fiction, where important characters (usually the protagonists) tend to survive improbable situations that they would realistically have very little chance of getting out of alive. It can be compared to a jobber aura, except that term mainly applies to the ability to win fights the character should not win, whereas character shields refer to the ability to simply survive situations they should not survive. Character shields are not considered a legitimate defense in an OBD fight, unless directly referenced in-universe.

Most peak human fighters and action movie heroes have character shields.
