Devils Never Cry

Background Information

Devil May Cry is a series of video games set in the modern-day, developed by Capcom and created by Shinji Mikami. Originally intended to be a sequel in Capcom's Resident Evil series, Devil May Cry has been cited as the beginning of a sub-genre of action games by the name of Extreme Action and Hack and Slash.

The series centers on main character Dante's goal of avenging his mother's murder by exterminating demons. In the process, he encounters his long lost brother with whom he develops a dysfunctional relationship.

As the series progresses it is revealed that the demon emperor Mundus is responsible for the loss of Dante's mother and the corruption of his brother.

The gameplay consists of heavy combat scenes in which the player must attempt to extend long chains of attacks while avoiding damage in order to exhibit "stylish" combat; this element along with time and amount of items collected and used are taken under consideration when grading the player's performance.

The series has been a marketing success with the first three games selling multiple million copies and being awarded the "Platinum Title" award by Capcom. The success of the video game series has led to the creation of comic books, novelizations, an anime series, guides, collectibles, publications, and a variety of action figures.

As of 2008, there are four games in the series. DMC4 Special Edition is an HD remaster for PS4/XBO/PC with Vergil, Trish, and Lady as playable characters and new missions.

DMC5 is released March 8th, 2019.

Standing in the Battledome

The Devil May Cry verse is generally considered to be quite strong and it is stronger than verses like Yu Yu HakushoPsyrens-CRY-ed, and Kongou Banchou.

But still, the verse is below the HST as a whole, albeit the DMC top tiers can easily compete with the HST high tiers.

The upper tiers are most often used in OBD matches and their victories mostly result from their ability to teleport during combat, at least continent level+ feats of raw power, sub relativistic+ speed feats, very good healing factor, and a plethora of dangerous hax such as spatial manipulation, time manipulation, soul manipulation, interdimensional travel/BFR/sealing, reality-warping and so on.

Even at the mid-tiers, we have the likes of Echidna manipulating the weather of an area greater than an entire forest and Nevan generating natural lightning to whom the likes of Vergil and DMC3 Dante can surpass, making those below the higher tiers town level+ and at least massively hypersonic+.

Low tiers are generally large building level and hypersonic+.
